Who We Are

Our DNA is visually impaired children. Whatever forms it takes: school for the blind, surgeries, training, advocacy, social awareness, education.

Our founder moved to China when he was 24 to open the first center specifically designed for children who are orphan and visually impaired. 6 centers and 19 years later we are now expanding worldwide to have an international impact on visually impaired children.

About Bethel

Bethel was founded in 2003 by Guillaume and Delphine Gauvain who saw gaps in the care of blind children throughout orphanages in China.

By providing a safe, loving and stimulating environment, Bethel’s mission is to help visually impaired orphans of all ages grow, laugh and experience everything life has to offer.

Our Team

The foundation of all the work we do at Bethel is our amazing staff. Over the last 19 years, Bethel has focused on bringing in foreign staff and volunteers who are experts in working with visually impaired children, as well as other necessary therapies, to both directly assist with the kids and train our local Chinese team.

What We Do

We envision children who are blind or visually impaired living life to the fullest, becoming independent and equal members of society.

Bethel’s mission is to empower children who are blind or visually impaired and their caregivers.
